Church of the Apostles

Our team initiated the re-exposition of one of the Moscow Kremlin wonders: the Church of the Twelve Apostles and the Patriarchal Chambers. The church was erected in the 17th century, by the order of the Patriarch Nikon of Moscow. Now it as well serves as an exhibition hall. The exhibition of iconography includes the works of the best court isographs, such as Simon Ushakov and Fyodor Zubov.
We worked on the re-exposition in collaboration with the Moscow Kremlin museums. Our intention was to redefine the church interiors, to make them lightweight and soaring. Therefore we used white wood, glossy panels and light silk; these materials visually expand and lighten the sense of space, as if dissolving themselves in there interiors. We also implemented the special accent lightning in the icon cases.
